A defeat and regrets for the FC Nantes ! Christian Gourcuff’s Canaries were beaten by the PSG (0-3) Saturday evening at La Beaujoire, on the occasion of the 9e day of League 1. The people of Nantes are provisionally 15e of the rank.
Author of a solid start to the match, FCN shakes up the Parisian players with intelligent pressing and a significant physical impact. The Canaries thwarted the plans of Thomas Tuchel in the first half hour, with a play in width clever thanks to the positioning of Marcus Coco and Simon Moses.
The latter also fails to open the scoring very early in the meeting. Randal Kolo Muani punches the Parisian defense on the right before entering the box and serving his teammate, alone at the far post. The Nantes striker gets tangled up in his brushes, and his strike hits his own leg (16 ‘). A first huge missed opportunity for a player who had to leave his teammates in stride.
Two penalties
Thirty minutes later, it is the passer Kolo Muani, who finds himself at the conclusion of the action. Except that the young scorer of the Canaries opens his right foot too much, and his shot passes a few centimeters from the skylight of Parisian goalkeeper Keylor Navas (36 ‘).
The Nantes are picked up on their return from the locker room, on a goal from Ander Herrera (47 ‘), perfectly served by Kylian Mbappé. The French international made the break from the penalty spot (65 ‘) after being jostled, according to the referee, by Jean-Charles Castelletto. The Parisian striker then, too, left his teammates by touching his thigh, less than a week later Neymar’s injury.
Nantes also had its penalty, a few moments later, with a slight foul by Colin Dagba on Marcus Coco. Kader Bamba grabs the ball, rushes forward but sees his shot deflected by Navas (70 ‘), who made a great save. The late goal of Pablo Sarabia (88 ‘) sealed the victory of PSG and the regrets of FC Nantes.
