Ford no longer offers conventional gasoline engines for the Mondeo series. Instead, the engine range was completely converted to full hybrid and diesel drives.
“The complete switch from conventional gasoline engines to full hybrid drive for the Mondeo series is another big step for us on the way to electrifying the vehicle fleet,” says Roelant de Waard, Vice President, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “For customers who drive less than 20,000 kilometers per year, the Mondeo full hybrid is an attractive option. This drive offers the option of purely battery-electric driving without having to worry about range”.
This means that the Mondeo is available as a sedan (4-door) and a 2.0-liter Ti-VCT full hybrid with a system output of 138 kW (187 hp). In the Mondeo, Ford combines a 2.0-liter petrol engine (Atkinson cycle) with 103 kW, an electric motor with 38 kW, a generator and a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. The Mondeo can also drive purely electrically on short journeys and at low speeds; Ford states the average consumption is 4.5 to 4.1 liters / 100 km.
Ford increased the hybrid share of total Mondeo sales in Europe in the first seven months of this year by 25 percent compared to 2019 as a whole – more than a third of all Ford Mondeo models sold had a full hybrid drive on board.
As an alternative to the full hybrid petrol engine, you can also get the Mondeo with diesel. The 2.0 l EcoBlue diesel is available with either 120 or 150 hp and is offered for the 5-door Mondeo and the tournament.
With Hybrid the Mondeo tournament costs from € 39,300.00, the prices for the diesel in the five-door Mondeo start at € 34,100.00.
