Sean Connery died, he was 90 years old. The BBC reports: the famous actor died in his bed, in the house in the Bahamas where he had lived for some time and where for some time, as his son Jason reports, he had not been very well. Connery was one of the most popular actors of the twentieth century, most famous for having lent the face to James Bond seven times, between the 60s and 70s. During his long career, the Scottish actor also played Marnie (1964 ), by Hitchcock, Record Robbery in New York by Sidney Lumet, Hunt for Red October by John McTiernan, without forgetting great hits such as Indiana Jones and the last crusade by Steven Spielberg and Highlander – The Last Immortal (1986) by Russell Mulcahy . Unforgettable in The Name of the Rose: the role of William of Baskerville earned him the BAFTA Award for Best Actor. The definitive consecration came thanks to the role of Jimmy Malone in Brian de Palma’s masterpiece The Untouchables (1987). For this interpretation the Scottish star received an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

Withdrawn for over ten years
Connery, who in 2002 was named “Sir” by Queen Elizabeth, had retired from acting for over ten years. Her last interpretation – as a voice actor – dates back to 2012, the year in which he gave voice to the protagonist of the animated film Sir Billi, of which he was also an executive producer.

Before breaking into the cinema, Connery had a ‘poor childhood: to support himself, over the years, he has also worked as a lifeguard, a bricklayer, a dishwasher, a coffin painter and a bodyguard. The stepping stone to success was his participation in Mister Universe, in 1953: the third place in the competition allowed him to get small parts on TV and, later, in the cinema. Connery, very jealous of his private life, was married twice and had a son, Jason. After a first marriage with the Australian actress Diane Cilento, in 1973 he remarried with the miserable Micheline Roquebrune, which remained with him until the end.
