Connery is best known for his role as James Bond. He played Bond in a total of seven films, first in Dr. No in 1962. The last Bond film Connery starred in came in 1983. It was named Never Say Never.
After the Bond films, Connery did a number of other major film roles.
He starred in The Untouchables in 1987. There he received both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his supporting role as an uncompromising police officer. He also starred in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989. In the 1990 thriller The Hunt for Red October, he played the role of captain of a Soviet nuclear submarine. Also in The Russia House from 1990 and o Rising Sun from 1993, Connery played major roles.
In the year 2000, Connery was appointed Knight Bachelor and thereby elevated to the knighthood. He was then given the right to present the form of indictment sir in front of his name.
