Citizens need to be given an explanation of what the Covid-19 vaccine is.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) together with the National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee (Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization / ITAGI) and the United Nations organization that deals with children (Unicef) conducted a survey of public perceptions for virus immunization Corona SARS-CoV2 (Covid-19) in September 2020. As a result, the majority of respondents already knew about this plan and 64.8 percent wanted to get the vaccine.
“73.72 percent of respondents know about the Indonesian government which plans to provide the Covid-19 vaccine and about 26 percent who do not know. Then 64.8 percent of respondents also want to be immunized, while those who refuse 7.6 percent, and do not know or have doubts about 27 , 6 percent, “said the Chairman of ITAGI Sri Rezeki Hadinegoro during a virtual conference with the theme ‘Vaccination for the Country’, Saturday (31/10).
Therefore, he asked the government to provide further guidance so that the public would know better and get information and finally could get true enlightenment. He emphasized that the people need to be given an explanation of what the Covid-19 vaccine is so they can receive it with full confidence.
This is because, he continued, vaccines are an effective preventive measure in addition to providing clean water, balanced nutrition, exclusive breast milk (ASI), avoiding indoor pollution and family planning. So, he continued, in the end the morbidity and mortality rates due to Covid-19 could be reduced.
On the other hand, he hopes, the media can provide education to the public about immunization properly. “The goal is to eliminate concerns about receiving immunizations,” he said.
