Bringing America back together
However different their points of view may be, Jean Versteeg and Debra have one thing in common. Both think it is a pity that people in the neighborhood have become so divided.
“We’ll just talk to each other. I would never use anyone’s political preference against him,” says Debra. But she hardly talks about politics anymore with the neighbors. “It’s never fun when you start talking about that.”
Jean recognizes that. Even within her own family, politics is being hushed up these days after some unpleasant discussions and fights in the past. “We have to get back together and start caring about each other again,” she says. “I hope that will happen in the next four years.”
