The terrorist from Nice was only in Europe for a few weeks, he arrived in Lampedusa

French police are gradually revealing the background to Thursday’s terrorist attack, which shocked the whole country. The man who murdered two defenseless women and one man in the cathedral of Nice was a 21-year-old Tunisian, Brahim Ausavi.

Counter-terrorism prosecutor Jean-François Ricard announced that the terrorist had only entered Europe a few weeks ago. According to the daily Il Messaggero, the man landed on the island of Lampedusa at the end of September and was transferred to the port of Apulia in Bari after two weeks of quarantine. He then illegally crossed the border into France. According to Ricardo, he had documents issued by the Italian Red Cross issued in the name of Brahim Avisavi.

Thus, Tunisian was not an applicant for French asylum, nor was he in search of the Italian or French secret services. In addition to the documents mentioned above, he had a copy of the Koran, two cell phones, and two other knives that he did not use.

The motives for his act are not much speculated, the hypothesis that he is a radical Islamist is more than likely. “Even while he was being treated, he did not stop repeating (sentence) Allahu Akbar,” said the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi.

On Thursday evening, French police also detained a 47-year-old man who was supposed to be in contact with a terrorist.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on Friday that France was at war with Islamist ideology and that further radical attacks on French soil were likely. “We are at war with the enemy inside and out,” Darmanin told RTL. “We must understand that there have been and will be other events such as these terrible attacks,” Darmanin added.
