Rotation is planned in some structural units of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) – Jānis Volberts, the former director of the association “Delna”, has been appointed the state secretary, but the current state secretary will head the State Education Content Center (VISC), the MES informed.

From November 1 this year, the current State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science Līga Lejiņa will be the head of the State Education Content Center (VISC). In turn, the head of VISC Guntars Catlaks will head the Policy Initiatives and Development Department of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Both officials have reached one term in the specific position, therefore, evaluating the priorities of the Ministry of Education and Science, it has been decided to strengthen the Policy Initiative and Development Department of the Ministry. In a statement, the Ministry of Education and Science stated that Catlaks had proven himself to be a bright strategist and solver of conceptual issues.

In its turn, the operation of VISC requires structural changes and more operative administration of cases, strictly observing the results to be achieved within certain time limits. Therefore, Lejiņa’s administrative experience would be useful in the institution. VISC also manages the implementation of the competency approach and monitors the implementation of the School 2030 project.

But from November 1, Jānis Volberts will perform the duties of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science, who has so far worked at the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Economics,

In a statement to the media, the ministry pointed to Volbert’s education in Latvia and the United States in managing change and process efficiency in combination with financial and legal education. This will allow him to ensure the efficient execution of the tasks of the Ministry of Education and Science and the continuity of work.
