The new PlayStation application is a huge improvement

After the web version of the PlayStation Store, everyone can also get started with the new PlayStation application. The app introduces a new store and a lot of extra options (especially for PS5).

Quickly check the available updates on your phone, because Sony has rolled out an update for the PlayStation application that completely renews the application. The first thing that stands out is the new look, but the application is also a lot clearer and offers a lot more possibilities.

On the homepage, for example, you will find an overview of your online friends and what they are playing, followed by an overview of the games you played most recently and your Trophy progression. Keeping in touch with friends is also easier than ever, because everything is now integrated into the application. That means that the PS Messages application will disappear.

The downside of the coin, however, is that now it is new Party system found its way into the application. With the new system you can no longer create separate audio calls, as all calls are tied to a specific group call. A “party” no longer equals an audio conversation, but a group conversation. Sony has already received a lot of criticism for the new system, and the company is therefore looking for a solution.

The new PlayStation Store was previously rolled out for the web version, but is now also fully integrated in the PlayStation app. So it’s easier than ever to buy games and download them to your PS4 or PS5. For the PS5, the app also provides some useful functionalities, such as managing storage space (which you can already do with Xbox) and starting a game via your smartphone.
