Previously, the sleigh riders received the Big Crystal Globe if they won the overall standings, which counted nine World Cup and three sprint stages. The big crystal is awarded to ladies, men, and doubles in a competition.
In turn, 2020/2021. In the season, athletes will have the opportunity to reach the Small Crystal Globe. It will be awarded to athletes who have scored the most points in nine World Cup stages or three sprint stages.
Last season, the Big Crystal Globe in the men’s competition was won by the Russian athlete Roman Repilov (pictured), the best among the ladies was the German Jūlija Taubica, but the German duo Tony Egerts / Sasha Beneken won the doubles.
FIL also reports that next season the ladies will also start separately in the doubles competition, so in total there will be five disciplines in the World Cup in luge.
The first stage of the World Cup is scheduled for November 27-29 in Innsbruck, Austria.
