Police say there have been two deaths, in addition to an unknown number of injuries.
The police would have arrested the perpetrator or at least a suspect, but the entire neighborhood has been cordoned off as a precaution. Nothing is yet known about his motives, but Mayor Christian Estrosi of Nice says in a tweet that he suspects it is a terror attack.
