Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Padjadjaran Prof. Cissy Rachiana Sudjana Prawira-Kartasasmita explained the differences in vaccines, vaccinations and immunizations. He continued whereas immunization is a process by which the body makes immunity from vaccines. So that the immune system appears to fight various viruses and diseases.
Immunization, is the reaction of the body when after being injected by a vaccine or getting a vaccine. The body will be stimulated, an immunological response occurs, the immune system, the body’s defense system produces antibodies. Apart from antibodies, the body also makes memory cells, (if the virus) comes back it is immediately killed, “he added.
He added that vaccines have been proven to beat various diseases. In fact, many diseases have disappeared and can no longer attack humans. “Even the immunization program can eliminate and eliminate smallpox. Polio is almost gone, living in 2 countries,” he said.
In addition to avoiding various risks of infection, he said immunization also helps protect other people who cannot be vaccinated for various reasons.
