“I’m a (big) voter in New York,” she said on SiriusXM radio. “I’m sure I’ll vote for Joe and Kamala in New York and it’s very exciting,” she added of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and running mate Kamala Harris.
New York State, a Democratic stronghold, has 29 voters among the 538 who will officially elect the US president on December 14 (following the vote of their state’s citizens on November 3).
For the most part elected and local officials of their parties, their names do not appear on the ballot papers and they are overwhelmingly unknown to the general public.
In each state, the number of large voters is calculated by adding the number of elected representatives to the House of Representatives (which varies according to the size of the state) to the number of senators (two for each state).
To win the presidential election, a one-round indirect universal suffrage, it is necessary to reach the threshold of 270 electors, regardless of the result of the popular vote.
In 2016, Donald Trump had garnered nearly three million votes less than Mr.me Clinton, but won in a handful of key states that had brought him a majority in the Electoral College.
