The Turkish president said he has no words for the people of the magazine, which has previously caused outrage across the Muslim world with cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad SAW in them.
“I don’t have to say anything to the bastards who insulted my beloved prophet on such a scale,” Erdogan was quoted as saying DW, Wednesday (28/10/2020).
Erdogan himself said he had not seen the magazine cover, but had been informed.
“My sorrow and anger is not because of the gross attacks on me, but because the same media is a source of indifference towards our beloved prophet whom we love so much,” he told members of the ruling Justice and Development Party.
The cartoon follows the diplomatic chaos between France and Turkey in which Erdogan questions Macron’s mental health over his defense of the Charlie Hebdo cartoons. France withdrew its ambassador to Ankara and the Turkish president asked Turkish citizens to boycott French products.(Also read: Erdogan: Macron Needs Mental Care Regarding His Attitude to Muslims)
