The forest fire that was declared this Saturday in the Vall de Gallinera area, in the territorial limits of the provinces of Alicante and Valencia, is still active at the moment, although perimeter. The fire, according to the first estimates, has devastated about 180 hectares and has had a wide land and air device to stop the flames. With the first rays of light, more means will be incorporated this morning to permanently extinguish the fire, which was considered “stabilized” at 9:56 am.
Thus, entering the fire in this “stabilized” phase means that it evolves within the control lines established according to the forecasts and extinguishing tasks. For all this, the commanders hope to be able to declare it “extinct” in the next few hours.
Yesterday the mayor of Villalonga Domingo García visited the fire control, accompanied by part of his government. The first mayor of Villalonga recounted the moments of initial tension, when the fire could have drifted towards the Safor area, instead of towards the province of Alicante, as it finally happened.
Domingo García acknowledges that the Llacuna area, where the fire started, is an area where it would have been very difficult to control the fire if it had finally spread there.
At the moment the origin of the fire is still being investigated, which has not finally affected the Safor region.
