I hope you understand that this is not a consumer monitor. This is for pros and prosumers. If I remember the reviews, this screen is not expensive at all for what you get.
This screen is clearly not for you, but it is for content creator Carl with 1 million followers, film editor Finn or designer Dave. In other words, people who make money with the equipment.
Perhaps there are now competing proart monitors from Asus or nice stuff from Eizo or NEC, but at the time of release that screen from Apple had enough USPs
I’m tired of the nonsense that Apple is expensive.
iPhones are by far the cheapest (TCO) high-end phones you can buy. Partly because they are the fastest, but mainly because you have twice as long to write them off and management is much easier. (Call me an android manufacturer that still does montly’s 3 years after release). Perhaps a Chinese manufacturer, but because of safety concerns, those 9 out of 10 are not an option for business.
My 2015 MacBook Pro was priced similarly to a competing Thinkpad or probook. I still use that device and enjoy the retina display every time. The Thinkpad and probooks had much worse screens and touchpad and consumer laptops…. I would have worn those 3 in the same period.
Not to mention the better workflow on OSX vs windows (scaling, terminal, touchpad, gems, mission control etc)
There’s a reason my boss (Government) gives us all iPhones instead of Samsung S’s.
