Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund caused a spectacle with a 3-3 draw on the 9th Bundesliga matchday. Dortmund came back from behind twice. Oscar Marmoush (8th/24th) steered the game into Frankfurt’s path early with a brace, Marcel Sabitzer (45th) and Youssoufa Moukoko (54th) equalized for BVB.
The guests then responded to Fares Chaibi’s 3:2 with Julian Brandt’s 3:3. Meanwhile, Gregor Kobel no longer experienced the goals on the pitch. The Nati goalie was hit in the face early on by teammate Nico Schlotterbeck and therefore had to be substituted shortly after the score was 2-0.
Xhaka wins
As a result, Dortmund is now in 4th place in the table, two points behind Bayern a week before the “Klassiker”. Frankfurt moves to 7th place. In the second game on Sunday evening, Granit Xhaka and Leverkusen won 2-1 against Freiburg. Florian Wirtz and an own goal from Noah Atubolu ensured Bayer’s goals, Manuel Gulde could only shorten the score for Freiburg.
