9th Francophone Games: Kinshasa in the colors of cultural diversity – AGP

LIBREVILLE, August 1 (2023)-The city of Kinshasa has been the warmest capital of the French-speaking world since July 28, 2023, on the occasion of the holding of the 9th edition of the Games of La Francophonie.

Congolese President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi opened the games at the Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa, in the presence of Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé, and the Prime Ministers of Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Congo-Brazzaville. France was represented by Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra.

For this edition, more than 2,800 people from all over the world will animate these games for 10 days. Caroline St-Hilaire, administrator of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), carried, on behalf of the General Secretary of the OIF, Louise Mushikiwabo who was unable to attend, the message of the International Committee of the Games of La Francophonie. For her ” these Games transcend borders, cultures and languages, to unite us under the same banner that is La Francophonie”. More than a competition “they are the expression of our shared humanity (…) They are the reflection of our universal values, the symbol of our commitment to a better future“, she added.

The people of Kinshasa will certainly keep in mind the multidimensional nature of the opening ceremony show, “tokos” (beautiful) in sound and light, to use a well-known term in the country, in relation to the performances of the artists of International fame.

Gabon is represented at these games by a large delegation of candidates and supervisors in several sporting and cultural disciplines. Currently, the country has a bronze medal obtained in table tennis.
