99-year-old man dies after being run over in Brooklyn

A Holocaust survivor has died at the age of 99 after being hit by a vehicle in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn.

Police said Jack Mikulincer was riding down Coleridge Street in his power chair Saturday afternoon when he was hit by a car as he tried to cross East Boulevard.

He was taken to Coney Island Hospital where he was certified dead.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and no charges have been filed against him.

Jack Mikulincer was born in what was then Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic.

His family and friends said that after surviving the horrors of the Holocaust, he served in the Israeli Armed Forces.

It was also gabbai, or treasurer, of the synagogue he attended and enjoyed painting in his spare time.

He even had a bakery in Brighton Beach.
