989 new coronary heart disease in the last 24 hours

At midnight on Saturday night, 85,542 corona-infected people have been registered in this country, according to preliminary figures from the National Reporting System for Infectious Diseases (MSIS).

The number is the fourth highest in one day so far during the pandemic. The peak was reached on Wednesday night, when 1,156 positive samples were registered the previous day.

In the last seven days, a total of 6,596 new cases of infection have been registered in Norway. 4,311,992 corona tests have so far been performed in the country.

Measures for Grenland

From midnight on Saturday, the authorities introduced regional measures for Bamble, Porsgrunn, Siljan and Skien. The municipalities receive action level A. This is the strictest level, which has already been introduced in a number of other places.

The introduction takes place because the infection in Grenland is increasing rapidly and the situation is challenging.

– The English virus variant dominates in the Grenland area, and the increase in infection is greatest in the younger age groups. The hospitals in the area are already under pressure and this load is likely to increase. The municipalities have therefore requested that the government introduce regional measures so that they can gain control of the infection. We do this from midnight, said Minister of Health Bent Høie (H).

A quarter of a million fully vaccinated

497,011 people received the first dose of the coronary vaccine, and 261,503 people received the second dose.

235 corona patients were hospitalized on Friday. There were ten more than the day before. A total of 648 corona-infected people have died in Norway since March 2020, preliminary figures show. Whether patients have died of or with covid-19 is not always possible to establish.

62.3 percent of all deaths have reached the age of 80. In the age group under 50, nine deaths have been reported in Norway.
