Samsung unveiled the 980 PRO, a SSD give her superior performance designed for gaming and high-end PCs. This is its first PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD for the consumer market, aimed at professionals and consumers who want cutting-edge performance.

Optimized for handling data-intensive applications, the Samsung 980 PRO is ideal for consumers and professionals working with content up to 8K and dedicated to graphics-heavy games. All key components, including the Elpis custom controller, V-NAND and DRAM, are fully designed in-house to deliver the full potential of the PCIe 4.0 interface. This allows the Samsung 980 PRO to offer sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,000MB / s and 5,000MB / s respectively, as well as random read and write speeds of up to 1,000K IOPS, making it up to twice as fast of PCIe 3.0 SSDs and up to 12.7x faster than SATA SSDs.
In addition to the high performance, Samsung SSD 980 PRO is equipped with exceptional thermal control solutions for greater reliability. While most of today’s high performance NVMe SSDs rely on external copper heatsinks to diffuse heat, Samsung SSD 980 PRO uses a nickel coating on the controller and a heat dissipation label on the back for more efficient thermal management. These innovative features also allow the drive to maintain a compact and slim M.2 form factor. Samsung’s Dynamic Thermal Guard technology also ensures that the unit’s temperature remains at the optimum level at all times, minimizing fluctuations in performance over the long term.
Samsung SSD 980 PRO in models from 1TB, 500GB e 250GB will be available worldwide starting this month, while the 2TB model will be on the market by the end of this year. Suggested retail prices for the Samsung SSD 980 PRO start at $ 100.99 for the 250GB model. The 500GB version is available at a price of € 165.99, while the 1TB version for € 255.99
