The traditional Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade returns to mark the beginning of the holiday season on Thursday, November 23. The parade celebrates its 97th year this year and begins at 8:30 am with the iconic Macy’s spectacle that will bring the nation together in celebration with a dazzling line-up of celebrity balloons, magical floats, marching bands from across the country, dynamic performance groups, imaginative clowns, local musical talent and Santa Claus. The programming will include 5,000 volunteers, 16 balloons with notable characters, 26 fantastic floats, 32 traditional and innovative balloons, more than 700 clowns, 12 music bands and nine performance groups. These Macy’s Parade events are joined by some of music’s biggest stars, all welcoming Santa and the holidays.

NEW YORK — The traditional Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade returns to mark the beginning of the holiday season on Thursday, November 23.

The parade celebrates its 97th edition this year and begins at 8:30 am with the iconic Macy’s show that will bring the nation together in a celebration with a dazzling program of balloons with notable characters, magical floats, marching bands from all over the country, dynamic performance groups, imaginative clowns, country musical talents and Santa Claus.

“For nearly 100 years, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been synonymous with the beginning of the holiday season, celebration and togetherness,” said Will Coss, executive producer of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Our talented team of artisans and production specialists at Macy’s Studios work year-round to deliver the nation’s most beloved holiday event, live on Thanksgiving morning. “We are proud to take on this responsibility and look forward to sharing our incredible designs, giant character balloons and first-class entertainment, all of which are sure to create lifelong memories for Parade fans across the country.”

The programming will include 5,000 volunteers, 16 balloons with notable characters, 26 fantastic floats, 32 traditional and innovative balloons, more than 700 clowns, 12 music bands and nine performance groups. When and what is the route of the parade

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will begin from its traditional starting line at 77th Street y Central Park West a las 8:30 a.m. The procession will march along its signature 2.5-mile route that will take it from Central Park West to Columbus Circle, turning toward Central Park South and then marching down 6th Avenue/Avenue of the Americas. At 34th Street, the parade will make its final turn westward and end on 7th Avenue, in front of Macy’s iconic Herald Square flagship.

From what points can I see the parade?

Public viewing will be established along designated portions of the route and will be managed by the NYPD. For additional viewing information, visit macys.com/parade.

What items are prohibited in the parade

Spectators should avoid bringing large bags, umbrellas, backpacks and strollers. The public entering viewing lanes may be subject to a security search.

What celebrities will the parade have?

The Macy’s Parade is an all-star celebration that hosts some of the country’s most talented and iconic artists, this year a total of 18 celebrities. For this edition, the legendary star of music, film, theater and television, Cher, will perform a new Christmas hit and kick off the season on 34th Street.

The parade will also feature a performance by Jon Batiste. Through the streets of New York City and aboard Macy’s exclusive floating stages there will be exciting performances from artists such as Bell Biv DeVoe; Brandy; Chicago; In Vogue; ENHYPEN; David Foster and Katharine McPhee; Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors; Jessie James Decker; Ashley Park with the cast and Muppets of Sesame Street®; Pentatonix; Paul Russell; Amanda Shaw and Alex Smith; and Manuel Turizo. US Olympic silver medalist Jordan Chiles (Gymnastics), US Paralympic athlete Ezra Frech (track and field), US Paralympic gold medalist Jessica Long (swimming) and Miss America 2023 Grace Stanke will also join the festivities. These balloons will appear in the parade

In total the parade will have 25 balloons.

The parade’s signature balloons will take flight on Thanksgiving Day. Since their introduction in 1927, these giant balloons feature some of the world’s most beloved and iconic characters. This year, seven new featured balloons will debut, including Beagle Scout Snoopy from Peanuts Worldwide; Blue Cat & Chugs from Cool Cats, a digital native character; Po from Universal Pictures’ Dreamworks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda; Leo, from Netflix, Inc.; Monkey D. Luffy from Toei Animation Inc.; Pillsbury Doughboy™ by Pillsbury™; and Uncle Dan from Illumination.

Balloons of characters like Bluey appear again, who is joined for the first time by her favorite red balloon “Keepy Uppy”, from BBC Studios; Diary of a Wimpy Kid® by Abrams Books; DINO and Baby DINO by HF Sinclair; Goku from Toei Animation Inc.; a Grogu™ inspired by Funko Pop! from Funko; Chase from Paw Patrol® from Spin Master and Nickelodeon; Pikachu™ and Eevee™ from The Pokémon Company International; Red Titan from “Ryan’s World” by Sunlight Entertainment and pocket.watch; Ronald McDonald® from McDonald’s® USA; Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary; and Stuart The Minion from Illumination.

The inflatable line also includes HF Sinclair’s Baby DINO, Go Bowling™ balloons; Smokey Bear by the USDA Forest Service; A Merry Moment by Universal Orlando Resort with candy canes and poinsettia balloons, stilts and dancing Christmas trees; and Macy’s special Tiptoe reindeer.

In total there will be 31 floats. This year four new floats will debut in the Macy’s Parade celebration. The floating stages, along with their scheduled performers, include Nickelodeon & Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (Bell Biv DeVoe); Brach’s® Sweets Palace (Brandy); Igniting Memories by Solo Stove (Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors); and the delicious world of Wonka, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
