At the same time, the CTU announced that it would monitor the behavior of suppliers. He has now found that ISPs are in serious breach of the new rules for 2021.

Only 4% of providers have modified contracts

“In the contractual documents, providers must newly specify precisely specified parameters of the Internet access service. According to the preliminary results of the inspection as of 3 February 2021 the vast majority of providers have not complied with the new obligations. Less than four percent of providers offering either only Internet access at a fixed location or mobile Internet access at the same time reflected the new obligations in the contractual documents. Due to the fact that the contractual documents were modified mainly by large players according to the conditions of the general authorization, 55% of customers already concern the change made, ”the CTU describes on its website.

There is no privacy on the Internet

The CTU advises

For fixed site access, the contract or contract document must specify the advertised speed, the maximum speed, the commonly available speed, which should be available 95% of the time and must not be less than 60% of the speed advertised, and the minimum speed, not the lower than 30% of the speed advertised. In the case of mobile internet access, providers must inform in the contract not only the advertised speed but also the estimated maximum speed. Whether for fixed or mobile access, providers must inform in the contract about the definition of large deviations from the agreed performance of the service and about the possibilities of applying remedies. If the customer does not find this information in the contract documents, he should contact the operator.

Internet service providers who do not yet have their contractual documents in accordance with the general authorization and thus violate the said rules in force since January 2021, must rectify the deficiencies immediately. Otherwise, the Czech Telecommunication Office will impose sanctions.
