Boston (USA), Apr 6 (EFE) .- Cameroonian center Joel Embiid returned to the starting lineup of the Philadelphia Sixers and contributed 35 points that helped his team win on the road 96-106 against Boston Celtics.
Guard Danny Green also asserted his contribution of 17 points and a great defense that helped the Sixers achieve their third consecutive victory in this season’s games against the Celtics, who swept the series.
The Sixers have won both games since Embiid returned from a 10-game absence while recovering from a blow to a bone in his left knee. They have won three of their last four games.
Philadelphia had a 21-point lead in the first game of a four-game road series.
The victory allows the Sixers to put their global record at 35-16 and regain the leadership of the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference that they share with the Brooklyn Nets, who had a bye.
Boston was trying to spin off its third consecutive win, a streak it hasn’t achieved since early March.
Power forward Jayson Tatum led the Celtics by scoring 20 points and guard Jaylen Brown finished with 17 more points, which did not prevent defeat.
The Celtics were closer to having their full lineup.
That advance took a hit hours before the match, when it was announced that the newly acquired French forward Evan Fournier entered the NBA’s Covid-19 health and safety protocols, implemented to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
