Doctors have given a total of 193,234 doses against the coronavirus. The most preferred product is Pfizer / BioNTech and 206 needles are made from it. The Moderna vaccine was injected into 41 and Janssen vaccine into 29 citizens. No one wanted to be immunized with AstraZeneca.
Meanwhile, the Financial Times reported that pharmaceutical giants Pfizer Inc. and Moderna Inc. increase the prices of their vaccines against Covid-19 in recent supply contracts with the European Union (EU). The increase for Pfizer / BioNTech is about 25 percent, and for Moderna – by about 10 percent.
Thus, the new price for a dose of Pfizer / BioNTech becomes 19.50 euros compared to 15.50 euros so far, the newspaper writes, referring to parts of contracts that his journalists have seen. The dose of Moderna is increased from 19.00 to 25.50 euros.
Recall that in late December 2020, Reuters published an internal report for the EU, prepared by Belgian Secretary of State Eva de Blecker. This document preceded the signing of the first EU contracts with pharmaceutical companies. It stated the following prices for one dose: AstraZeneca – 1.78 euros, Pfizer / BioNTech – 12 euros, Moderna – 18 dollars. It is unknown at this time whether the price of AstraZeneca has been adjusted.
The current change in pricing comes as the EU tackles supply problems and distrust of vaccinations. The terms of the deals, concluded this year and covering up to 2.1 billion doses by 2023, were renegotiated after data from phase 3 clinical trials showed the two companies’ vaccines were more effective than some rivals, according to the Financial Times. .
