Riyadh – The Ministry of Interior said that 9,542 foreigners who violated the law in Saudi Arabia were deported within a week. A new 18,553 expatriates were arrested within a week. In the raids conducted in different areas of the country, the authorities have arrested people who have violated residence, labor laws and border security regulations.
The arrest was made during a joint search by various units of the security forces, the Home Ministry said. Of these, 11,503 residence law violators, 4,315 border security law violators and 2,735 labor law violators were arrested. 1,121 people were caught trying to enter the country illegally. 28 percent of them are Yemenis, 70 percent are Ethiopians and 2 percent are from other countries. 73 people were caught trying to cross out of the country illegally.
12 people were arrested for providing transport and accommodation to violators of residence and labor regulations and covering up the violation of the law. Cases of 46,077 violators were forwarded to their diplomatic offices to obtain travel documents. 1,808 violators were recommended to complete travel reservations. 9,542 violators were deported. The ministry has warned that those who facilitate intruders will be punished with imprisonment of up to 15 years and a maximum fine of 10 lakh riyals.
