94% of the population of the National District already has a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

94.1% of the population of the National District has received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, thus becoming the district with the highest proportion of inoculated in the country, Public Health Minister Daniel Rivera reported on Wednesday.

“The National District has a first dose application of 94.1%, the highest level of compliance with the applied dose is in this area,” said the minister.

Rivera explained that a total of ten demarcations exceed the national average, among which, in addition to the National District, Monte Plata (93.1%) and La Altagracia (92.6%) stand out.

“Second place Monta Plata, with 93.1% of its population, La Altagracia 92.6%, La Romana 66.4% and San Pedro de Macorís 62.2%.”, Said the minister.

The other districts that have a good vaccination rate include Independencia with 62.2% of its inoculated population, Espaillat with 61.6%, Puerto Plata with 59.8% and Barahona with 59.5%.

“The vaccination plan is that, from now until July, seek to apply all these vaccines for us to reach that great vaccination of at least 80%, which speaks of herd immunity, greater protection, less occupation,” said Rivera .

The minister indicated that they carry out sectorized sessions throughout the country and that for next weekend they will carry out one in Puerto Plata, where they seek to inoculate 108 thousand people.

In the country, 7.3 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 have been administered, of these 4.6 million correspond to the first dose and 2.6 million to the second.
