Next year, funds will be directed to restoration, afforestation and fire prevention
94 million euros will be directed to implement interventions in the “Forests” sector under the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas 2023-2027. This became clear during a meeting of the Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Food Dr. Lausanne Vasileva and Dr. Eng. Miroslav Marinov with representatives of state and non-governmental organizations from the forestry sector.
Deputy Minister Vasileva, who is the head of the governing body of the Strategic Plan, announced that eight interventions have been developed for the forest sector. She added that three of the interventions are compensatory, and the remaining 5 are investment. “In 2025, we plan to open receptions for four of them, namely for afforestation and restoration, prevention of forest fire damage, reduction of biodiversity loss and reduction of illegal activities in forest areas, as well as support under Natura 2000 for forests,” pointed out Dr. Lozana Vasileva. The remaining interventions of the Strategic Plan will be for improving the health and sustainability of forest ecosystems, forest ecological activities in forests and maintenance of newly created and restored forests.
The participants in the meeting were informed about the possibilities of implementing the interventions and the permissible activities under them. They expressed their satisfaction that they will start these admissions next year. According to them, the good dialogue and cooperation with the leadership of the Ministry of Health will contribute to the successful support of the sector.
The proposal to start the interventions in 2025 will be presented at the next meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Strategic Plan, which will be held in the month of November.
