Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
A total of 9,346 joint TNI-Polri personnel were deployed to secure the action demonstration reject Omnibus Law Law Create Work (Ciptaker Law) in Jakarta on Thursday (8/10) tomorrow.
“Our 9,346 personnel will be deployed in DKI Jakarta,” said Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus at Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday (7/10).
However, said Yusri, this number could still increase if necessary to ensure that the security situation remains conducive.
“We’ll see. We have reserves to prepare, if needed, we will add more,” he said.
Yusri said that until now the police were still making preventive efforts by appealing to the masses not to carry out demonstrations.
Moreover, he continued, until now Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) were still being implemented to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
“We hope that all of you do not carry out activities, gather together during the PSBB period,” said Yusri.
He claims that until now the situation in Jakarta is still conducive. It’s just that, on social media there are indeed many videos that aim to provoke.
“Yesterday there were many irresponsible people distributing years of old videos that were distributed on social media to spread provocation, yes, on social media, that is untrue news. Jakarta has been conducive to this day,” he said.
A number of workers, students, and other community groups are planning to stage a demonstration against the Omnibus Law of the Ciptaker Law in front of the State Palace, Jakarta, October 8.
They will call for the repeal of the Ciptaker Act passed by the House of Representatives on October 5.
Various provisions in the Ciptaker Law are considered to be detrimental to workers and workers.
The demonstration itself will initially be held in front of the DPR building. However, the DPR is entering into an accelerated recess since last Tuesday (6/10).
