On the Union side, the year 1929 marked one of the most important moments in its history: it had inaugurated the April 15 Stadium, as well as a sports center in its definitive plaza, located on López y Planes Avenue.
After this small location in the socio-historical context, the date on the calendar that is located in the history of the “Tate” marks June 17, 1929. Union forged a historical triumph over the Chelsea, a team that, at that time, was cherishing promotion to the First Division, what we now know as the “Premier League”; one of the most powerful leagues on the entire planet.

This confrontation against Union, occurs in the search for more interesting challenges for Chelsea, who traveled from England to the American continent in search of them. Boat training and “diving” on the deck, were the preparations of the English “players” at that time. The tour lasted about a month and a half, in which the English team played 16 games.
In the middle of this journey through South American lands (they played friendly matches in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay), the Tatengue team appeared, who would wait for him in Santa Fe in the middle of an imposing frame in the nascent 15 de Abril Stadium. Chelsea had just beaten 1-0 against the Argentine Amateur Association (on River’s court) and 2-0 against San Lorenzo de Almagro.
