Unlike many of his colleagues, it is Jiri Pavlenka (29) not changed in this transfer summer and at SV Werder Bremen remained. The interest in an extension was there the whole time, however, due to the unclear financial framework, starting the negotiations was only possible to a limited extent. “So far it has been difficult because we didn’t know where we would get out of this season financially. We are in contact with some players and have already indicated that we are interested in extending, ”Baumann now revealed. “It had to rest for a while due to the transfer phase. But we will resume the talks as soon as possible ”, explained the managing director Sport. “It is still our goal to extend his contract,” he emphasized.

Pavlenka moved from his native Czech Republic in 2017 Slavia Prague to Northern Germany. Since then, the 1.96 meter tall goalkeeper has been an undisputed regular player. At the start of the current season, however, he was left out due to persistent back problems and was taken by Michael Zetterer (26) represented.
