With an investment of 900,000 euros, the brand new sports club “Lemon Gym” was opened in Riga, Pļavnieki in December.
Like other sports clubs, it will be waiting for its visitors at any time of the day, seven days a week.
The newly opened sports club in Pļavnieki is the eighth “Lemon Gym” in Latvia, and it is also the second newly designed club, equivalent to the Lemon Gym Skanste opened in spring.
The company invests not only in new clubs, but also in existing ones, such as the development of self-service kiosks that would allow everyone to start playing sports whenever they wanted.
Similar to other industries, for sports clubs in Latvia, both the consequences of the pandemic and the current increase in energy resource prices are very challenging and full of trials. Jānis Duboviks, manager of the Latvian region of “Lemon Gym”, when asked about the biggest challenges of the moment, admits: “Although the sector is still recovering from the consequences of the pandemic and is facing a very rapid increase in the prices of energy resources, which at the moment have already tripled, we look optimistic to the future and are evaluating several new locations of Lemon Gym in Riga. Sports clubs are still one of the most accessible forms of active leisure, so in order to optimize the costs of the company without increasing the price for our existing and new club members, we have implemented several internal measures to reduce the consumption of these resources and we have also invested in technical solutions such as installing sensor lights in clubs where this has not been the case so far”.
