Last weekend several tornadoes crossed the American state. Several people died as a result of the natural disaster, many were injured and others lost their homes and belongings.
Branson, along with his parents Wayne and Lindy, were on their way to a safe place to take shelter when their car was suddenly caught in one of the tornadoes. Johnny, Wayne’s brother, was on the phone with the family when the tornado blew over the car.
There was not much left of the car and both parents were seriously injured. His father broke his neck, his back, several ribs and his arm. The mother of the family also broke her back and neck, and also suffered a punctured lung and broken jaw.
Fortunately, Branson was not injured. The 9-year-old child climbed out of the car and walked almost two kilometers in the dark through all the debris caused by the tornado. He eventually rang the doorbell of a neighbor who helped him arrange help for his seriously injured parents.
‘don’t die’
“The only light on his path was the lightning bolts,” said Uncle Johnny against the American news channel CBS. “He ran as fast as he could, covering more than a mile in about 10 minutes. It was amazing for such a small boy.”
“The last thing he said before he left his parents was: Please don’t die, I’ll be back. “
Both parents are currently in hospital, but both are expected to make a full recovery.
In the meantime, the family has no income. A fundraiser has been started to provide financial compensation to the family. The equivalent of nearly 20,000 euros has already been raised.
