9-year-old girl falls from the balcony in Piacenza, hospitalized in intensive care at Maggiore

Accident, yesterday afternoon, in a building in via Vitali in Piacenza: a nine-year-old girl – for reasons yet to be ascertained – fell from the terrace of her house and suffered serious injuries. The little girl was on the terrace of the house and, perhaps playing with a ball, after leaning over the railing or climbing over it, she fell down the slide that leads to the garage of the building from a height of over 4 metres.

No one would have witnessed what happened: it was the girl’s grandmother who raised the alarm to 118, who was in another room of the house at the time. And that, seeing her niece lying on the pavement, she immediately called for help. Medical workers responded to the scene with an ambulance and a medical vehicle. In the fall the little girl suffered internal injuries and a traumatic head injury.

After being stabilized, she was taken to the emergency room of the Guglielmo da Saliceto hospital in Piacenza for all the necessary investigations. Here, in light of a clinical picture that appeared serious, the doctors decided and arranged for his transfer to the Maggiore Hospital in Parma, a center equipped, just in case, with a neurosurgery department.

To speed up the transport from Piacenza to the Parma hospital, the ducal city’s air ambulance was airlifted which allowed the girl to be immediately admitted to the General Intensive Care Unit. And in a reserved prognosis.

The young woman’s health conditions, as far as we know, appear to be “stable” and she should be transferred, always with a guarded prognosis, from the General Intensive Care Unit to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
