An impressive series of incidents yesterday between Anagni and Ferentino. An escalation whose toll is very heavy: a 9-year-old girl living in Anagni who died instantly, her 7-year-old sister seriously injured together with a girl from Ferentino who drove the car with the girls; plus another five injured in the course of the other claims.

The tragedy that saw the death of the 7-year-old girl (daughter of a well-known Anagnina family that runs a bar near the tollbooth of the City of the Popes) took place around 1pm along Via Casilina at the intersection for the Pontegrande district in Ferentino.
A dangerous intersection that has seen in recent years dozens of very serious accidents on which the municipal council led by Antonio Pompeo intends to intervene forcefully by creating a roundabout, a road section connecting the Casilina and the Tofe area and a hydraulic arrangement of the Pontegrande ditch where there are already works in progress.
To tell the truth, the roundabout could have already been built if there had not been appeals from the owners of the areas affected by the work.
Returning to the tragic accident at 1pm yesterday, due to causes under consideration by the local police station, coordinated by Marshal Raffaele Alborino, a Peugeot 306 driven by a 25 year old from Ferentino with two brothers from Anagni aged 9 and 7 collided who were sitting on the rear seats, and a large-displacement Mercedes driven by a 60-year-old businessman from Anagni. According to an initial reconstruction and some testimonies, the Peugeot driven by the girl, who babysits the two brothers, came from Anagni and was turning left into the Pontegrande district when it collided with the Mercedes that was traveling from Frosinone to Anagni. The impact was terrible and the cars were reduced to piles of metal sheets.
The passing motorists and the owners of the shops present immediately raised the alarm. On the spot several police patrols, three ambulances, traffic police, firefighters and auto-medical. A real hell was presented to the rescuers. The Peugeot was unrecognizable. We immediately noticed the presence of the children. The 9-year-old girl was thrown out of the cockpit. Rescuers immediately realized the gravity of the situation. They tried to save the girl’s life, but they couldn’t. She died instantly. The little sister is serious as well as the babysitter. I have been transported the child to Frosinone; and the girl in Rome with the ambulance.
The man driving the Mercedes was also injured, albeit not seriously. The road along that stretch of Casilina was closed for about three hours.
Chilling scenes. Screams, tears, continuous illnesses of friends and relatives of the child. Many onlookers who went to the place of the tragedy. Among other things, Anagni’s family in the past has suffered other ugly tragedies. The vehicles were seized. Investigations are made to trace the exact dynamics and ascertain any responsibilities.
The other accidents
Shortly before 12, another serious accident occurred along the Morolense in Ferentino, an industrial area right in front of the Henkel entrance. A Smart driven by a 26 year old from Ferentino and an Audi driven by a young man from the area collided. A heavy vehicle was also involved, a truck with a trailer carrying an excavator. According to testimonies, the girl with the Smart was on her way to work from Ferentino to the industrial area when she collided with the Audi, perhaps in the process of overtaking.
To have the worst in this case the girl driving the Smart who was helicopter transported to Rome in a reserved prognosis. Read the injuries for the Audi driver.
The third accident around 5 pm on the Morolense in the Patrica area. A 76-year-old from Supino aboard a Lancia Ypsilon lost control of the car that overturned, remaining dangerously in the middle of the jetty. Traffic on tilt. The woman after the air ambulance was alerted was transported to Frosinone. It is serious but not life threatening.
Finally another accident in Anagni. One injured in a serious condition, and traffic stopped for over two hours. This is the balance of the umpteenth road accident that occurred yesterday afternoon on the Casilina, in the Anagni area, shortly after 5.15 pm. Despite himself, the protagonist was a Fiat Punto that was heading towards Colleferro. The car, for reasons still being examined by the investigators, collided at the Marangoni factory against a van that was instead going towards Frosinone. In the collision the car got stuck in the middle of the road and the driver, very seriously injured, was literally ripped out of the twisted metal sheets by the firefighters. Given the gravity of the situation, an ambulance arrived on the scene, transporting the injured person to the hospital. On site, in addition to the firefighters, also carabinieri and local police for the relief of the case.
