School furniture, with an approximate value of 16 million pesos, was donated by different entities in the United States and is located in El Paso, Texas, waiting to be imported to distribute it to border schools.
The Undersecretary of Education in the North Zone, Maurilio Fuentes Estrada, pointed out that the transfer of the material has already been authorized, which is found in nine boxes of trailers parked in El Paso, Texas.
The furniture is made up of benches, file cabinets, desks, tables and double tables, as well as other implements.
This material will be distributed among the schools that made requirements and those that are in vulnerable sectors of the city.
For reasons of logistics and savings, he informed, the import will be made from March 15, trying not to generate expenses for the State Government.
He indicated that support was received from carriers and other people who keep donations safe, those who have been on the US side since last year.
Currently, he added, all the necessary procedures have already been carried out before the federal Treasury Secretariat for the exemption of import taxes.
He mentioned that at the end of January they were given the green light and they began to plan how the cargo is going to be imported, the people who are helping them set March 15 as the date on which they will be able to move it at no cost.
Fuentes Estrada pointed out that today he would hold a meeting with representatives of a Customs Agency that will help with the process, they have even reviewed the paperwork so that there is no problem.
He announced that through the Single School Needs System (SUNE), the schools requisition the furniture they need, so priority will be given to those who requested it first and to the school communities that are in the most vulnerable areas of the city. .
While the distribution is made, this material will remain in the warehouses of the North Zone Undersecretary of Education, he said.
