Ivan V. Pacold, MD, professor of cardiology at the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University in Chicago, says that lifestyle choices are important, and if these changes don’t appear directly in cholesterol levels, they can lower your risk of developing heart disease.
Here’s a simple way to lower bad cholesterol reported from Everyday Health, Sunday (12/19/2021).

1. How Much Cholesterol
The first step is to know the cholesterol level. You need to know the three numbers about cholesterol in your blood so you can discuss it with your doctor and reach your goals of protecting heart health. Even if you have good cholesterol levels, you can make healthy choices to prevent high cholesterol in the future
2. Talk to the Doctor
Once you know your cholesterol levels, it’s time to talk to your doctor. While lifestyle changes to include a heart-healthy diet and plenty of exercise are usually the first step to lowering cholesterol, certain types of cholesterol problems such as familial hypercholesterolemia require immediate treatment.
3. Sports
Exercise has a greater effect on increasing good cholesterol, which protects against heart disease, than in lowering bad cholesterol. Regular exercise strengthens the heart and protects against heart disease. If you’re not a big sports fan and aren’t in great shape, take a 30-minute walk at a moderate pace each day.
