Execution of a killer who introduced himself online and killed nine people. He killed and mutilated eight girls and a man he met on social media.
A Tokyo court on Tuesday sentenced Takahiro Shiraishi, 30, to death. The ‘Twitter killer’ killed people between the ages of 15 and 26.
The investigation into the disappearance of a 23-year-old woman who repeatedly tweeted about committing suicide has unraveled.
Shirazi’s lawyer argued that those who posted on social media about committing suicide were contacted on Twitter and then murdered with their consent.
The lawyer argued that the dead were all suicidal and therefore should be commuted to life imprisonment.
But on Tuesday, the court handed down the death sentence. The judge said all nine victims did not agree to be killed and that the deaths of nine young men were “extremely serious”.
The judge added that the dignity of the victims had been trampled on. He led everyone to murder by promising that he would try to change the minds of the dead or else he would commit suicide with you.
