9 new patients and 20 people in hospital due to COVID-19 in NB | COVID-19 in the Atlantic

Nine new cases have been reported in the province in the past 24 hours, including six in the Northwest. Four of these cases are people who had had close contact with already confirmed cases and the other two are under investigation.

A positive case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at the Mélubulles daycare in Edmundston. Public health has advised staff and families to self-isolate until midnight Sunday.

Public health has also identified a possible source of exposure at the Subway restaurant at the Edmundston Regional Hospital on Friday, April 9 between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Elsewhere in the province, two cases were reported in the Moncton area and one in the Saint John area. These cases are related to travel or previous cases.

A case at Tim Hortons in Dieppe

The Tim Hortons restaurant located at 280 rue Amirault, in Dieppe, is temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. This employee last worked on April 14.

Other employees who have been in contact with the sick person must self-isolate for 14 days.

The restaurant was closed for a few hours on Friday in order to clean the premises.

Two false positives in zone 4

Two previously reported cases in the Edmundston area were removed from the total number of confirmed cases as public health determined their results were false positive.

The lab is working to determine the cause of these false positives, and public health will notify those affected.

There are therefore 1,767 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick since the start of the pandemic.

There are currently 141 active cases. Twenty people are hospitalized, and 12 of them are in the intensive care unit.
