9 goals at the start – FC Wacker Innsbruck

With a new supplier and many new players, FC Wacker Innsbruck started the 2024/25 season against FC Fliess as part of the Kerschdorfer Tirol Cup. And this start was quite something.

Both teams started the first competitive match of the season with enthusiasm in front of 1,200 spectators. The home team did not hide either.

In the first minute, Ty Walker won the ball and passed it to Okan Yilmaz, but Fliess’ goalkeeper Graber was quicker and intercepted the pass. The “can opener” for Wacker came in the 8th minute when Rami Tekir overcame the defense and Yilmaz shot the ball into the goal after a dribble.

Just a minute later, Yilmaz played a sharp cross that almost led to an own goal. FC Wacker Innsbruck now dominated the game and hardly allowed the opponent to leave their own half.

In the 19th minute, Fliess had his first chance when Siehs broke through the defense and shot. Alexander Joppich saved on the line. Six minutes later, Tekir passed the ball to Adrian Lechl, who scored to make it 2-0.

In the 40th minute, Daniel Francis was fouled in the penalty area and referee Ribis immediately awarded a penalty. Yilmaz stepped up and safely converted the ball into the bottom left corner to make it 3-0.

Immediately after the break, Fliess had another chance through Siehs, but the ball bounced past the goal. In the 48th minute, Joppich scored the 4-0 after a ball relay from Tekir to Stefan Lorenz, who played the ball into the middle.

Yilmaz increased the score to 5-0 with a direct free kick into the bottom corner after a foul (52nd minute).

In the 70th minute, Joppich passed to substitute Bright Owusu, but Graber made a brilliant save. Another foul in the penalty area also led to a penalty, which Lucas Scholl, who also came on as a new player, converted into the bottom left corner, 6-0 (76th minute).

In the 82nd minute, Scholl scored a strange goal: his shot initially bounced off an opposing defender, flew high and finally landed behind the goalkeeper in the net to make it 7-0. Three minutes later, Owusu scored a spectacular goal with a scissor-kick, making it 8-0. Finally, in the 88th minute, Owusu again ran alone from the halfway line towards the defense and scored the last goal of the evening to make it 9-0.
