Nine days after the eastern Mediterranean earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, official statistics showed that the southern provinces of Turkey and the cities of northern Syria were the most affected areas in terms of human losses and infrastructure.
So far, 41,000 deaths have been recorded and 100,000 injured in both Turkey and Syria, while there are still victims under the rubble of demolished buildings in the earthquake that occurred on February 6, with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale.
The most affected areas in Turkey are:
Gaziantep, Hatay, Şanlıurfa, Malatya, Adıman, Kilis, Osmaniye, Adana and Diyarbakir.
In Syria, the most affected governorates:
Aleppo, Idlib, Hama and Latakia.
