An 89-year-old woman died in a house fire in Le Moule on Saturday, September 14. Another 57-year-old woman was treated by emergency services and taken to hospital in a light condition.
The firefighters were alerted this morning at 5:24 am for a house fire on rue Charles Volange Romana, in Moule. The intervention concerned a single-storey solid building, where the fire had broken out in a bedroom.

Inside the building, an 89-year-old woman was found by the fire brigade reconnaissance team. Unfortunately, the victim, who suffered severe burns all over her body, was removed from the house in a state of rigidity. She was taken care of by the emergency and victim assistance vehicle, but her death was pronounced on the scene.
Another victim, a 57-year-old woman, suffering from respiratory distress after inhaling fumes, was also rescued. After assessment by medical services, her condition was deemed light. She was transported to the Pointe-à-Pitre/Abymes University Hospital for further care.
The gendarmerie went to the scene to secure the area and investigate the circumstances of the fire.
Significant resources were deployed to control the fire and a total of 20 firefighters were mobilized. Internal security forces were also dispatched to the scene.
The exact circumstances of this fire remain to be determined.
