At about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, firefighters received a call from a man warning them that two lifeless bodies would be found in an apartment in rue Sainte-Marguerite in Anglet. When they arrived, the emergency services could only note the death of an 89-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman, both killed by firearms.
An investigation has been opened
According to initial findings, this is a “intentional homicide followed by suicide”, confirms the prosecutor of Bayonne Jérôme Bourrier. It was the octogenarian himself who made the call to the firefighters after killing his wife and before killing himself with a hunting rifle. An investigation has been opened.
