Bengkulu City (ANTARA) – The Bengkulu Provincial Health Bureau said 89 residents were infected with HIV from January to August 2022.
Bengkulu Provincial Health Bureau’s Head of Disease Control and Eradication (P2P) Oktomi Harlena on Wednesday said there were five more cases last week and one of them died.
Of the five cases, three were from Seluma Regency and two were from South Bengkulu Regency, while the deceased was from Seluma Regency.
For HIV cases in Bengkulu, there are 16 patients in Rejang Lebong Regency, four patients in South Bengkulu Regency, three patients in North Bengkulu Regency.
In addition, Kepahiang Regency had four patients, Seluma Regency had four patients, and most were located in the city of Bengkulu, which reached 58 patients.
He explained that the high number of HIV cases in the city of Bengkulu was caused by the free association of young people and did not use safety during intercourse.
Meanwhile, the number of patients using ARV drugs in Bengkulu province to suppress the spread of HIV / AIDS in their bodies has reached 390.
“We find it difficult to find HIV / AIDS patients in Bengkulu because they don’t want to and accept this fact,” he said.
Although ARV drugs provided by the Ministry of Health are provided free of charge to patients in order to suppress the HIV / AIDS virus in Indonesia, particularly in Bengkulu province.
