88,000 doses of Pfizer’s pediatric anticovid vaccine applied – Diario La Tribuna

The head of the Central District Metropolitan Health Region, Harry Bock, reported that some 88,000 children between the ages of 5 and 11 have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“From January to Friday, we have already applied a total of 88,000 doses to children between the ages of 5 and 11, to protect them against this virus,” Bock explained.

He indicated that at the beginning of the vaccination of this population group it was difficult due to the low availability of doses, but that, since February 14, the inoculation has occurred without limitations.

Bock highlighted that 80 percent of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 have already received their booster dose, while the goal to vaccinate in this segment is 120,000 people.

Bock stressed that they will talk with the authorities of the Ministry of Education to implement vaccination in educational centers, this at the request of some schools, while in others they have already begun to inoculate against COVID-19.

The Health and Education authorities are working with the purpose of designing a mass vaccination strategy in the country’s educational centers, added the Ministry of Health.

Starting today, the health regions of Cortés, Islas de la Bahía and La Paz will begin vaccinating children between 5 and 11 years of age, where only children between 10 and 11 years of age were being immunized.
