88-year-old patient becomes the first person to undergo a bioadapter heart implant in Indonesia

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA — Recently, a coronary heart patient was announced to have successfully undergone heart ring implementation with technology Bioadaptor first in Indonesia.

The procedure was performed by an interventional cardiologist Prof. Dr. dr. Teguh Santoso, MD, Sp. PD-KKV, Sp. JP, Ph.D., FACC, FESC.

Prof. Teguh said, the 88-year-old male patient was treated at Medistra Hospital in a condition already suffering from three-vessel disease and was advised to perform coronary artery bypass surgery, but refused.

Then also the Left Anterior Descending Artery (LAD) has hardened.

“After proper preparation of the lesion with orbital atherectomy and high pressure dilatation, the bioadapter can be easily delivered and implanted,” he said in a statement received by Tribunnews.com, Wednesday (8/6/2022).

“Post-procedure, we were able to see, by intravascular ultrasonography, Bioadaptor which is expanded and well placed despite the challenging anatomy,” continued Prof Teguh.

According to him, heart ring Bioadaptor has flexible joints, and is unique in its metal implant design.

The bioadapter opens the arterial sheath when its polymer layer is absorbed after more than six months allowing it to move along with the natural physiological movement of the blood vessels.

The Bioadpator coronary heart ring system was developed and manufactured by Elixir Medical Corporation, a healthcare product technology company located in Silicon Valley, California, USA.
