An 88-year-old man presented himself this Saturday evening at the Sainte-Musse hospital in Toulon (Var) because he had a WWI bullet lodged… in his anus. A car of “five or six centimeters in diameter by twenty in length”according to good morning which reveals this information, to say the least unusual.
As a safety measure, hospital staff partially evacuated the establishment, especially the pediatric section. Firefighters and security guards were called. Demining has also been alerted. Patients who were to be brought to the facility were taken to other hospitals. Only the gynecology and maternity services functioned almost normally during this time period.
The octogenarian, who told doctors the shell was demilitarized, underwent surgery. The demining crews confirmed that the shell did not present any risk of explosion. The device was able to be removed from this man’s body.
