88 Confirmed cases of monkeypox, mostly in Jakarta! – Good Statistics

Monkey trout, or moor troutis a viral disease previously unheard of outside of Central and West Africa. However, in recent years, this disease has spread to different countries, including Indonesia.

This virus is causing global concern because it spreads quickly and can cause serious problems in patients.

This disease is caused by a virus smallpox, which belongs to the same family of viruses as smallpox, viz Orthopoxvirus. Although its depth is lower than the trout, moor trout still dangerous if not handled properly.

Symptoms include a high fever, a rash that spreads throughout the body, and muscle pain. In some cases, monkeypox can cause secondary infections that can be fatal, especially in people with weakened immune systems.

Indonesia, like many other countries, faces new challenges with the detection of cases of monkeypox in 2022. This disease can be transmitted through direct contact with body fluids, skin lesions, or injuries drops breath from an infected person.

In DKI Jakarta, 59 confirmed cases were recorded, making it the district with the highest number of monkeypox cases. Meanwhile, West Java recorded 13 confirmed cases, followed by Banten with 9 cases, East Java and Yogyakarta Special Region with 3 cases each, and the Riau Islands with 1 confirmed case.

Of the total cases, 87 people were declared cured, showing progress in treating this disease, although the risk has not completely disappeared.

As a disease that mainly attacks the skin, monkeypox requires a special treatment for the crimes that appear on the skin of the victim. Dr. Dr. Prasetyadi Mawardi, SPKK (K) from the Indonesian Association of Dermatology and Venereology Specialists (PERDOSKI) emphasized the importance of not treating existing wounds.

Treatment such as squeezing or scraping the lesion can increase the risk of transmission, whether the lesion is still wet or has dried. He also reminded patients not to share personal items such as towels and clothes, as these items can be a medium for transmitting the virus.
