8,785 new corona infections were reported in Austria on Monday. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 19,000 people in Austria have died with a corona infection.
The current summer corona wave is causing the number of infected hospital patients to continue to rise. On Monday, 1,636 Covid patients had to be treated in local hospitals, 88 of whom required intensive care. Within a week, 259 infected hospital patients were added, 141 since Sunday alone. 8,785 new infections were registered in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of the Interior and Health.

8,785 new corona infections in Austria on Monday
So far there have been 4,695,898 positive test results in Austria. As of today (July 25, 9:30 a.m.), 19,006 people with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died across Austria and 4,551,977 have recovered. There are currently 1,636 people infected with the coronavirus in hospital treatment. Of these, 88 are cared for in intensive care units.

Seven-day incidence is 864.3 cases per 100,000 population
This is – as always on Monday – below the seven-day average, in the past week there were an average of 11,088 new cases per day. A week ago, 8,449 new infections were reported on Monday, fewer than today. The seven-day incidence on Monday was 864.3 cases per 100,000 population. At the beginning of the week there were 124,915 active cases in Austria, 721 fewer than the day before. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have already been 4,695,898 confirmed cases in Austria.

The number of corona patients in intensive care units is increasing
The number of seriously ill Covid patients in the intensive care units is also increasing. Another person has had to be hospitalized since Sunday. In a weekly comparison, there was an increase of twelve patients, which is almost 16 percent. On July 11, there were 1,103 infected hospitalized across Austria, and their number has risen by 48 percent within two weeks. The increase in intensive care patients is even clearer, with an increase of 54 percent.

Seven more deaths with Corona reported
The number of Covid deaths is still very high. A further seven deaths have been registered since Sunday alone, and there were 72 in the past week. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 19,006 lives in Austria since it broke out. AGES reported 20,254 fatalities on Sunday.

Only 171 corona vaccinations on Sunday in Austria
Only 171 vaccinations were carried out in Austria on Sunday, seven of which were first bites. Exactly 5,038,674 people are considered to have been immunized with three stitches, which is 56.1 percent of the total population. According to the data from the e-vaccination card, a total of 6,834,614 people have already received at least one vaccination.
