VALENCIA (EP). 87% of Valencians – for a total of 4,543,523 people – have the complete coronavirus vaccination program in the Valencian Community when the two years have passed since the program began. Specifically, since the start of the campaign on December 27, 2020, a total of 12.6 million doses have been inoculated, according to Department of Health sources.
By province, people with a complete model are 1,662,138 from Alicante, 533,676 from Castellón and the remaining 2,347,708 correspond to the province of Valencia, which represents almost 9 out of 10 people. To achieve this level of vaccination coverage, 12,615 were administered .102 vaccine doses: 4,629,606 in the province of Alicante, 1,476,849 in Castellón and another 6,508,647 in Valencia.
As for the immunized groups, more than half of people aged 60 and over received booster doses in the Valencian Community: 513,400 in the province of Alicante, 155,563 in Castellón and 685,408 in the province of Valencia. The data is even higher among residents of elderly centers and social health centres, environments with the highest coverage of all age groups, 93.24%.
In fact, all age groups of adults have, on average, more than two doses of the anticovid vaccine. This average increases as the age of the people to be vaccinated increases. Thus, in the 65 to 80 age range there is an average of 3.48 vaccinations; and in the over-80s the average rises to 3.65.
Sources from the department he heads Miguel Minguez It highlights that this vaccination coverage is the result of the “effort” made by health personnel, both in primary care and in hospitals, where an immunization campaign against Covid and flu vaccination have been combining for another year.
In this sense, to give an example, in the week from 28 June to 4 July 2021 almost half a million doses of the covid vaccine were administered and, in this 2022, from 17 to 23 January, almost 311,000 were inoculated.
More places to get the vaccine
The focus is now on the second booster dose, while continuing to offer new vaccination opportunities to those who, for whatever reason, have not yet started the process or are waiting to receive a dose.
For all of them, Healthcare is opening vaccination points without an appointment this Christmas where vaccines will be inoculated. However, those who cannot go to these vaccination points without an appointment have the option of contacting their health center to agree on a day and time to get vaccinated against covid and, if indicated, also against the flu.
The flu vaccine is indicated for people over the age of 65, pregnant women or those who have just given birth and those at risk of complications because they suffer from underlying diseases, as well as health and social care personnel and those who live in centers for the elderly or functional diversity. For its part, the vaccination against Covid has already been opened to all adults who request it at their health center.
